iPad Pro 3 Features: Apple's tablets are some of the most popular devices among the tech heads of the world, and last year's iPad Pro model, featuring an upgraded RAM and a new 256 GB storage version, took the world by storm some more. But while the original iPad Pro featured a 12.9-inch display, 2016's version came out in a more compact, and even better avatar featuring a 9.7-inch screen. It was interesting to see that the two launches were spaced by a period of about five months, and yet the name remained the same.
But now as 2017 approaches, hopes and wishes for what could be the all new iPad Pro 3 are rising among fans of the Cupertino-based company's technology. With most of the sources pointing towards a possible June 2018 release date for the iPad Pro 3, rumours and speculations about the upcoming device have reached a crescendo. But other than the conjectures about the release date of the new tablet, the possible features and specifications of the iPad Pro 3 are probably the most widely discussed aspect. So what could we see on the outside and inside of the second generation iPad Pro? Let's get down to it without further ado.
iPad Pro 3 Features and Specs
There is little doubt that the iPad Pro 3 will come with a set of impressive stuff packed into it. But while the previous generation iPad Pro came out in two variants, rumour has it that the new devices in the range will come with a new intermediary size variant. To go into the details of this, some sources suggest that the iPad Pro 2 will retain the previous two size variants, namely the 12.9-inch and the 9.7-inch types, but may also include a third kind in the line with a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro. This comes from the reputed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who suggests that the new screen size could be a hit with users associated with education and entrepreneurial sectors. But that's not all, as another report suggests that there is the possibility of a smaller 7.9-inch variant as well. Or perhaps what we'll see is one new 10.9-inch variant. With such speculations about the basic size of the device in tow, we can expect the different variants to come with a separate set of specs in some related areas. But they are more than likely to retain some common traits too. Let's take a look at those.
Processor, Graphics Card and Operating System
The iPad Pro 3 will be quite a revolutionary device in terms of what it might pack in under the hood. The previous devices came with an A9x and A9 motion co-processor along with a 4 GB and 2 GB RAM for the 12.9-inch and the 9.7-inch variants respectively. For the iPad Pro 2, we can expect a mammoth upgradation to an A11 processor, as Apple is reportedly working on this new version for all devices to be launched in 2017, and that makes it a possibility for the iPad Pro 3. The device could be powered by a 2.6 GHz dual-core CPU, while on the graphics side it may come with a PowerVR series 7, 12 core unit. Compared to the recently released iOS 10.2 of the current Apple devices, it has been rumoured that the iPad Pro 3 will run the all-new iOS 12. However, the new upgraded software will probably not be coming to a device right away, so we're probably looking at a classed up version of the iOS 11 itself, perhaps the iOS 11.3.
It is widely speculated that the new devices will feature a flexible AMOLED display, as such a technology is currently said to be in the works. However, it could be too much of a stretch that this next level technology will find its way into Apple devices in 2017 itself. Instead, Apple may make some changes in some other lines. For instance, we know that a bezel-free display is something that all major device manufacturers are interested in. If the iPad Pro 3 goes the edge-to-edge route with its display, then it could offer users the benefits of a larger screen while making the entire device smaller and more convenient to use. A 4K True Tone display is all but confirmed. The screen on the iPad Pro 3 will also integrate a specially embedded fingerprint sensor for added protection.
Memory and Storage
The powerful processor of the upcoming device is likely to be coupled with an LPDDR4 4 GB RAM across the larger devices, and an upgraded 3 GB capacity for the smaller 9.7-inch variant. In terms of storage, the iPad Pro 3 will come in the same versions as the current devices, namely 32 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB. However, there is the possibility that Apple will bring in a 64 GB variant for the intermediary 10.5 or 10.9-inch iPad Pro 3.
One of the most overlooked features in the iPad lineup, the camera in the 9.7-inch iPad Pro saw a significant upgrade. The initially launched versions of the iPad Pro 3 are also likely to pack in a 12MP and 5MP camera units respectively at the back and at the front. However, the intermediary model that is likely to be launched later could implement some new upgrades. The primary camera will come equipped with f/2.0 aperture while the front one will have Phase Detection Autofocus technology.
Apple ipad pro 3 Battery
The previous iPad Pro models were equipped with sizeable batteries (10,307 mAh for the 12.9-inch variant and 7,306 mAh for the 9.7-inch variant) to back up the advanced technology housed inside. However, it is more than likely that the iPad Pro 3 will come with a smaller battery unit, as it is expected to sport a thinner, more compact design. But a smaller battery does not necessarily mean lower lasting power for the device. Moreover, the new A11 processor could facilitate lesser power consumption on the iPad Pro 3 despite the 4K True Tone display among other things. So despite most sources hinting at a larger battery in the iPad Pro 3, we think a smaller unit just makes more sense.
ipad pro 3 : Design and Body
The iPad Pro 3 will feature a unibody metal chassis, made in a 7000-series aluminium, which will not only make the device lighter, but also more durable. On the other hand, previous leaks claim that the 10.9-inch model will have similar dimensions as this year's 9.7-inch version, but will be thicker by about 1.5mm, while the 12.9-inch one will be thicker by about 3mm. So at this point, it can't really be said what we'll be able to see finally, but a waterproof design is more than likely to make it to the device. That means that we could see the removal of some of the regular features of the iPad Pro, like the headphone jack and the physical home button. Instead of this last one, we could see the inclusion of a pressure sensitive home button.
- Added Features : The iPad Pro 3 could come with a number of extensions like its predecessors, like the external keyboard of its own and Apple pen support. In terms of connectivity, the iPad Pro 3 might come with Bluetooth 5.0, along with USB 3 Lightning port across all the variants.
We're expecting the iPad Pro 3 to launch in the markets around March 2017. So there may not be much time left before we get to witness what Apple has in store for us. The 9.7-inch Apple iPad Pro was a rather impressive device among a horde of tablets available on the market, so it can be more or less guaranteed that the iPad Pro 2 will be a device to behold.
